Tria Laser Hair Removal Review

Carlos Suarez's Reviews

I have been using the Tria Laser Hair removal system for just over a year and the impact it has made on both my and my family life can be quickly summarized:

“What happened to all of Daddy’s hair?”

This was the question I could tell my eldest daughter had been dying to ask me ever since we arrived at the swimming pool. In the past I had usually avoided family swimming trips as I hated being the hairy guy with the gorilla back.

Now however, this wasn’t a problem.

“Mummy, what happened to Daddy’s hair?” my daughter asked again.

My wife smiled and replied:

“the tria took it all away.”

Rave Reviews: The Tria is the Best At Home Laser Hair Remover Currently on Sale

It was very easy for us to award Tria Laser Hair Removal the title of:

**** BEST HOME LASER HAIR REMOVAL PRODUCT ****

Let me break down the main points:

  • The Tria gives you laser hair removal in the convenience and privacy of your own home.
  • It is very easy to use.
  • It’s completely safe.
  • It saves you thousands of dollars in professional salon treatments.

Most importantly, the Tria it is one of only two home laser hair removal devices to be clinically proven to deliver permanent results which has been approved by the FDA. Many other products make a big thing in their marketing about having FDA clearance; but simply having ‘clearance’ is very different from being clinically approved for permanent results.

Permanent hair removal is a hotly debated topic and the Tria does give you this. Yes, you read that right -  The Tria gives you PERMANENT HAIR REMOVAL RESULTS and I’ll be explaining this shortly.

If FDA approval wasn’t enough, the Tria has also been showered with awards ranging from Allure’s Beauty Breakthrough Award to The Prestige Skin Care Breakthrough Award given annually by Women’s Wear Daily and WWD Beauty Biz (apparently they are known as the voices of authority for the fashion, beauty and retail industries).

Best of all, as you’ll see from my treatment times below, now is the perfect time to start treating yourself if you want to have completely smooth, hairless skin in time for the next vacation. Of course, you’ll start to see good results before then but if you want to be home free within a couple of months, NOW is the time to make good on that promise you made to yourself and get started with the Tria today.

The Tria is Very Easy to Use

While these accolades certainly sound impressive, they mean squat if you can’t work out how to use the damn thing and I’ll admit that before the Tria arrived, I was a little bit daunted by the idea of treating myself.

A while back, I had a couple of treatments on my arms at my local laser clinic and I got to know my electrologist Kathy quite well. I know how much training she went through to be able to treat me and my complete lack of training of any kind made me feel like a kid about to get behind the wheel of an F16 fighter jet.

“A POINT AND SHOOT DEVICE”

I needn’t have worried. The Tria Laser Hair Removal system is very easy to use, rests nicely in your hand and involves just five simple steps.  The instructions and FAQ booklet which come with it are very clear and detailed and walk you through the whole process from set-up to shedding to results. In fact, the Tria only real rival when it comes to ease of use is the NO NO. If you want to take a look at Ally’s NONO Hair Removal Reviews, just click on the link.

The Tria is also cordless which means you don’t have to worry about any cables getting in your way when you are twisting to reach those difficult areas. You’ll find this very helpful as you will have to  rotate the laser head around it’s full axis if you’re like me and want to do hard to reach areas such as your shoulders and the back of your legs.

Here’s a short video showing you how to use the Tria:

The Tria is Completely Safe

I’ll admit the safety aspect was a big concern of mine but the folks over at the lab have really put the time in to make sure you are protected from any mishaps.

Before you first use the device, you have to activate it by calling the customer service team (who by the way are very professional and helpful) or going online. This is make sure you can use it safely and is a very simple process providing you have read the short instruction manual.

“KEEPING YOU SAFE AT ALL TIMES”

Each time you use the Tria you have to do a skin check to make sure you have the appropriate skin tone. Again this is a very simple process and takes about a second to complete. People with dark or tanned skin are not able to use the device safely as they will absorb the light which may burn and in these cases, the Tria will lock to prevent you from injuring yourself. If your skin is white, beige, ivory or light brown you’ll be good to go.

While this is a big positive, it is also the reason why the Tria just missed out on winning our Best Overall Product Award as for people with dark to deep brown or black skin, or if you have naturally blonde, red, white or gray hair, the Tria is off limits for you. These hair colors will not absorb enough light to be affected by the laser and while I sincerely hope it is only a matter of time before a product comes on the market which will open up home laser treatment to everyone, right now it’s only available to those with the previously mentioned skin and hair types.

Double the Speed means Half the Time!

One of the biggest advantages Laser treatment has over electrolysis is that it doesn’t take light years to clear an area. When the first Tria model came out in 2008, many Tria laser reviews complained that it took too long to properly treat the larger areas of your body. In response to this, Tria released an updated model early in 2009 which I have been mostly been using and which doubles the speed at which the laser fires.

With this newer model, it took me:

  • An hour to complete one leg
  • 2 hours to do my entire chest and stomach area.
  • Just under 2.5 hours for my wife to do my full back.

Anyone who has treated themselves before knows that these times are awesome!

I’m also at the extreme end of the hairy scale so for people with more manageable growth, these times will be shorter. Basically, I’m about as bad as it gets!

If you’re looking to buy the Tria, it’s best to get it direct from the Official Tria website to make sure you’re purchasing the updated model. There is also at lot of other useful information about the Tria on their website including a huge directory of frequently asked questions and over 150 customer reviews. To check this out all you need to do is click on this link.

The only areas Tria don’t advise you use the laser are around the genitals or face although I think that when it comes to your chin or sideburns, the company are just being overly cautious. While I am not endorsing going against the advice of the manufacturer, all I’ll say is that I used it to stop my eyebrows taking over my forehead and found it a very simple and safe procedure.

Success With Laser Hair Removal Doesn’t Just Happen Over Night

At this point, it’s probably worth reminding you that laser treatment is not a quick fix solution, but something which takes time, effort and commitment. Many other Tria laser hair removal reviews fail to mention this and it’s taken me quite a bit of patience and conviction to get where I am now but the great thing about the Tria is that once it’s gone, it’s gone forever.

As I said before, the Tria is a permanent hair removal device and if you’ll bear with me a little longer, I will explain how this is possible.

Because hair grows in cycles, the following treatment program is recommended:

0-3 months 3-5 months The Rest Of Your Life
1 treatment every 2-4 weeks 1 treatment per month Enjoy being hair free!

This means that for the average person, it will take 6-8 months of work to completely clear an area which is the same time frame as professional laser treatment.

The reason why you have to wait between treatments is because there is no point re-treating an area until your skin has shed or (as Tria so elegantly put it) “ejected” the hair follicles and the new growth cycle has begun.

Because I was at the extreme end of hairness and my hair is rather coarse, this whole process has taken me slightly longer. They say 3 treatments is the minimum before you start seeing results and 5-8 treatments to see significant hair removal. My regrowth rate has always been supersonic so I spaced out my treatments every 2 weeks but it took 8 weeks before I noticed any real change.

After this however things quickened dramatically and as my hair become less coarse as it grew back:

I BEGAN TO REALISE THE TRIA WAS ACTUALLY WORKING!

It’s take me just over 10 months to clear my back, chest, stomach and legs which is about the maximum time it could take if you stick to you treatment schedule (I did) and providing you’re not the Yeti, things should be much quicker for you.

For people will low level hair problems, 5 months is about the average and 7 months is a good universal median. 10 months is extreme!

If you’re reading this before your next vacation, these times mean that if you start treating yourself now you will be pretty much hair free by the time the you jump in that plane! I remember how I felt when I went to the pool for the first time without having to worry about embarrassing my kids and although it may seem a long way off, you don’t want to put it off much longer. If you really want that smooth, hair free skin you’ve always dreamed of, then NOW is the time to kick yourself into action and get started with the Tria.

TRIA Beauty Hair Removal Laser

It’s Up to You if your Tria Treatment is Painful

Using the Tria is not nearly as painful as some professional treatments but there is some discomfort involved.

Some people have described the Tria as feeling like you are being lightly flicked with a rubber band. This is pretty accurate although along with the small snap, there’s obviously a little heat involved as well. However, the Tria hair removal reviews I read when I was researching buying the Tria forgot to include one crucial fact:

“LASER TREATMENT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE PAINFUL”

Whether you feel anything is entirely up to you and and depends on the intensity level you are using the laser.  There are five intensity levels which range in strength from low (1) to high (5). Of course people do have different tolerances and coarser hair is more painful to treat because the hair roots are larger; but generally speaking when using it on a less sensitive area such as your legs or arms, Level 1 is completely painless, Level 2 feels like a faint elastic band snap, Level 3 involves a small but tolerable level of discomfort and Levels 4 & 5 are for the brave and ambitious.

For more sensitives areas like your armpits and bikini line everything simply shifts up a notch so Level 1 feels like a faint elastic band snap, Level 2 involves a small but tolerable level of discomfort etc…

The higher the level you use the less likely the hair is to grow back but what’s more important than this is that the Tria lets you decide how intense your treatment is.

Here’s a good, little clip from “The Rachael Ray Show” which was broadcast earlier this year in which Kim Kardashian talks about her experiences with the Tria:

The Tria Saves You Money on Expensive Laser Treatment Costs

At $449 the Tria is no cheap purchase. However, as a Spring Season gift to us all, Tria are offering you an awesome $50 gift card when you use the coupon code RUNWAY at the checkout. This great offer will only be available for a limited time until the end of the Spring Season, so make sure you take advantage before it runs out.

On top of this, you also get 100% Free Shipping and the option of an “easy pay” payment plan which means you only have to pay half the unit price today, and can make up the rest of the balance in small instalments. Sweet! To get all of this, all you need do is click here to go to the Tria Beauty Official Site.

You are also covered by a huge 90 DAY “No Questions Asked” Money Back Guarantee. This means you have a full 3 months to give the Tria a try and if you are unhappy with the results, you can simply return it for a full refund. If you look again at my treatment times, you’ll see that even people with serious hair growth problems will start to see significant results within 60 – 90 days and this amazing guarantee makes the Tria a completely RISK FREE purchase.

Best of all, when compared to professional salon based laser treatment:

“THE TRIA WINS HANDS DOWN WHEN IS COMES TO VALUE FOR MONEY

It would cost you the same amount in professional treatments just to get part of your legs done as it would to to make a one time investment in the Tria. A full bikini line treatment cycle costs on average $2000 and to get your back cleared anything it would cost upwards of $5000. If you’re like me and are looking to treat multiple areas, then getting it all done in a clinic is a financially impossibility.

On top of this, you have to consider the hassle and stress you save not having to go back for follow up treatments every couple of weeks not to mention any cancellation fees you may incur or worse – having to miss a treatment because the salon is fully booked.

When you consider the alternative, the Tria Laser Hair Removal price tag starts to look much less of a barrier and more of an opportunity.

The Tria Gives You Permanent Hair Removal…FOREVER!

So the Tria Laser Hair Removal scores big when it comes to money saved but can it really compete with salon treatment when it comes to results. After all, what’s the use in saving thousands of dollars if the outcome is inferior? Does it work in the long run?

Now is perhaps the time to debunk some of posts on various hair removal forums which claim that permanent laser hair removal can only be achieved by visiting a salon and handing over thousands of dollars.

This is completely untrue and it has been proven so by countless independent clinical trials. The main ‘evidence’ for this is always that eventually the treated hair grows back and that home laser hair removal devices can only reduce hair growth and not stop it completely.

However, these well meaning people always forget to mention one crucial point: hair grows in cycles and you can only ever completely destroy a hair follicle when it is in the active stage of growth. Because only about 1/3 of your hair is in this growth stage at any one time, it is likely that you will initially experience some regrowth. However, over time you will catch all the hair follicles in the active phase of growth and over time they will all be destroyed…forever. You just need to be patience and stick to your treatment schedule.

Ultimately, the only true test for permanency is:

ARE YOU STILL HAIR FREE 6 MONTHS AFTER ALL TREATMENTS HAS STOPPED?

Well in my case, it’s been ALMOST 8 MONTHS since I finished treating my back, chest, stomach and legs and there is still NO SIGN OF HAIR GROWING BACK.

This has made me not to mention my wife, very happy. It has been a long road to get to this point and I’ve had to deal with a lot of setbacks and disappointments along the way. But the Tria has changed all of this and it can do the same for you.

In the end, all you really need to know is that the Tria Laser Hair Removal System does what it has been clinically proven to do and many, many men and women just like you have successfully used it to finally rid themselves of their unsightly body hair. If you’re looking for a highly effective home laser solution for permanent hair removal to make good on that dream you’ve always had of smooth, hair free skin, there’s only one name you need to remember.

avatarAbout

Hi everyone. My name is Carlos and I work as a Education Consultant in St. Louis, Missouri. I was born and raised in the UK but came to the States 10 years ago and love living in St. Louis.

At school I was always known as the hairy guy and as I’ve gotten older, my hair problems have only become worse. Now however, things are definitely on the up mainly thanks to convenience of being able to treat myself at home.

The Tria home laser treatment has worked awesomely for me and is definitely worth the price. The first key factor in the success of this technology is how dark the hair is: the darker, the better. For all you poor gals with light pigments, in this case, blonds don’t have more fun…sorry :(
I have very dark hair, and the product has very successfully obliterated about 80% of my body hair after about 6 months of treatments. The rest will be easy “clean up”.
The second key factor is the power setting: set it as high as you can stand it. I have consistently set mine at full strength, 5. It will hurt to some extent in order to gain the best results, but it’s really not that painful compared to years of body waxing and such…

So glad I didn’t have to shell out thousands to get my back treated at a clinic and Extremely happy that I can say goodbye to shaving! Been hair free for about three months after my final at-home laser treatment and I’m so happy it’s gone.

Thumbs up for the Tria! First time ever I haven’t had to think about shaving while on vacation! It’s extremely liberating. Oh, and that three thousand I would have spent on getting JUST my bikini area treated at a clinic? – yeah, guess what I used to pay for my vacation? Oh yeah.

Tria does hurt, but only mildly. Plus, since YOU are holding it, you can dictate whether you want to stop or not. I went with one of my friends when she got her lower back laser treated, and she said that the laser technician was getting tired of her being so wimpy and would audibly “huff” when she would ask her to slow down or giver her a short break. You avoid this completely when you do it at home, AND you can choose how high you want to set the laser.

Thanks for the detailed review, Carlos. I have literally save thousands of dollars by buying this one device. It’s great that you can use it in your own home, as I am quite shy about my unwanted hair and I don’t like to show other people how hairy I really am. After a few months using the Tria, this won’t even be a problem anymore! I bought mine two months ago and the areas that I have treated are definitely growing back less hair.

I have used Tria for two weeks and I already have results!!! In my bikini area I have hairs falling out all over! It blows my mind that I already am seeing results this soon!! I did experience some small pain when I used it on the highest level, or the 8/10 level. I just tried Dermoplast spray( a benzocaine numbing spray) and that helped a lot. I am actually glad that it hurts in a way, it makes me feel like it is working :-) I have had one professional laser hair treatment and at the level 10 the Tria feels the same. The only complaint that I have is that on the highest level the battery life is a little too short . I can treat my under arms and both my lower legs on a charge or my bikini area and under arms on one charge.

Hi, Carlos! Good for you, mate! I’ve also completed about seven months of treatments and I’m going to stop and see if anything grows back (I honestly don’t think it will thought!) I would have spent approximately 30,000 to have the same thing done “professionally” so the Tria is definitely money well spent.

I just had my first treatment with my Tria and I got to say it didn’t hurt that bad. The way some described it, “like getting smacked by a rubber band” sums it up pretty good, but I might even say less than that. I guess it depends on your personal tolerance level. I’m really happy that I got this device, it’s just taking me a bit of time to treat one area, I think because I’m not used to it. But, I’m in this for the long haul (hopefully a max of 8 months!) so I’m sure I’ll get more confident at handling the device.

REMEMBER TO SHAVE! I missed a spot on my leg once and oh how it hurt! I just turned off the Tria and redid the area after it was properly shaved and all. It’s been three months now and I haven’t forgot to shave since that one incident and the pain is very manageable. I also take an ibuprofen about an hour before I start out as that numbs my skin up a bit. As far as the hair removal; so far, so good! Seeing much less hair growing back in after just three months, and it will probably take me maybe two more months to catch all hairs while they’re in their active growth stage, so five months tops.

This is so ridiculously easy to use. If I had known there was a way to get permanent hair removal at home, I would have definitely skipped those six painful and humiliating bikini area treatments at the clinic. But, better late than never! Now I can use my Tria on my legs, armpits and forearms, which I would have never been able to afford doing at the clinic.

I’ve got to be honest – I still prefer No No Hair Removal as it gives you excellent results much quicker. But it does look like Tria might be the permanent solution I’ve been looking for. We’ll see…

Thank you my friend. It nice to find someone who actually cares enough to put this information out there in a way which makes sense. I’ll be getting my Tria when my paycheck comes in at the end of the month.

A couple tips when using the Tria: Go slow! (much better to take your time and get ALL the hair than to breeze past everything and get patchy results) Do your prep work! (make sure to shave all hair and maybe take a pain killer or use a numbing spray) Time your treatments! (if you are female, it’s a good point to note that you will be more sensitive to pain in the weeks leading up to the start of your menstrual cycle, so better to treat after) These things will help you avoid pain and get good results. Not that it’s excruciating pain, but if you’re a wimp, like me, you’ll want to avoid as much discomfort as possible.

Nice one Carlos. It certainly worked for me and my back hair. My wife treated me for 6 months and now I’m smooth as a baby.

I love the Tria! It’s so easy to use and Carlos is absolutely right when he says it does the job. I used it to clear my chest hair and have been hair free ever since. It’s one of the best products I’ve ever bought. Good review…

Tria, tria, tria, tria! Home laser beats the spa by miles. I don’t have to worry about shaving anymore. Hurray! Thanks for such an accurate review.

Thank you for your advice. I’ve been doing a lot of reading about laser hair removal and this is definitely the most detailed review I’ve come across.

What do you think about epilator products? Are they as good as laser hair removal?

Thanks for such a fantastic review. It’s such a relief to finally find a review which is detailed and gives you all the facts. I bought my Tria last month after reading what you had to say and so far the laser hair removal has worked just as you said.

It is taking me slightly longer than you suggested to treat myself, but not by much and I’m sure the times will go down as I get better at using the Tria.

Will report back when I have more.
